Oh mylanta, thank you so much! Honestly, seeing this message made my day. I’m glad that I make you want to push yourself though!  Maybe it’s just me but I think it’s a good thing to have someone that makes you want to test your limits and it means a lot that you think of me like that <3 But you too write amazingly!                  PREGNANCY STARTERS || ANSWERING

                                      _{❛ i’m actually not sure, ❜ kori responded, HUMMING to herself for a second, ❛ i was thinking that we NAME her/him after someone??? ❜}

                                      _{kori let out a GROAN as she slowly came to. her head THROBBED and every breath she took ONLY seemed to amplify it. whatever they had been drinking last night, it CERTAINLY had been strong, strong enough to leave her FEELING like she’d been hit by one of those trucks.} 

                                      _{she curled up in bed, HIDING her head in the nook of dick’s shoulder before LETTING out  a sigh and SITTING UP. hiding from the sun would only make her feel WORSE. the only way to make this hangover better was to step OUTSIDE.} 

                                      _{she grabbed her ROBE and tied it loosely, opening the door slightly and STEPPING out into the SUNSHINE. she winced initially but, after a minute, she began FEELING better. she stood there for a moment, just taking in the LIGHT, before noticing how it strangely seemed to bounce BACK in front of her hand.} 

                                      _{it took a minute for her EYES to find the ring, large and beautiful and SHINING in the sunlight. she BEGAN to vaguely recall memories of the prior night, RECALLED dick proposing and her changing into a white sundress for the OCCASION.}

                                      _{x’hal, they got married last night.} 

                                      _{she blinked for a few SECONDS, processing the information before taking TWO big steps back INSIDE. she shut the door and turned to face the bed, CATCHING sight of an awakening dick.} 

                                      _{❛ richard … ❜ she began SLOWLY, taking a seat on the edge of the bed, ❛ what do you remember about last night??? ❜}

First of all, I want to say sorry for taking a bit to reply! My ask box is kind of congested at the moment. But I did get to it! Which is the important part! 

I have very mixed feelings on her solo title. Initially, I liked it. I mean, it did have it’s flaws (as any book does) but, as it progressed, I got very very frustrated because it kept just being, what I like to call, a “fluff” piece. It was kind of just there to be cute? 

I understand that the primary motivation of the solo was to kind of soften the huge negative response that DC got after Red Hood and the Outlaws was released back in the day so I understood why, initially, it was all cutesy. I expected it to get more serious the longer it went on though but, besides maybe a few tiny events, nothing happened? Kori made friends, which is great, but she has potential for so much more. 

If you think about it, she’s actually really powerful. She absorbs energy from the sun, is almost as strong as Superman, can fly, shoots beams, and all that jazz. That’s pretty monumental ability but it’s always glossed over in favor of romance or just bc she’s hot. A solo series would have been a great chance to expand on that potential but they never seemed to? 

Not to mention that they made her so stupid. It stopped being cute after #3. I get that they wanted to rehash her image from the 80s and that they were probably marketing towards the now older audience of the Teen Titans cartoons but come on. Yes, she was coming back to Earth and yes it was probably foreign again to her but seriously, it got too much. 

Don’t get me wrong, I love the optimistic part of her personality. I love how upbeat she was despite everything that kept her down but I hated how apparently optimism translated as stupidity to the authors. I’m an optimistic person, I’m primarily happy, and people have always thought that meant I was dimwitted. That’s not the case, that’s hardly ever the case, and seeing that translated on one of my favorite characters just really irked me. 

While I try to get that positive energy and vibes on my portrayal, I really hope that I don’t make her too stupid or dumb her down. There is a huge difference between being new/re-introduced to a culture and being full on unintelligent. I want to capture the reintroduction to Earth aspect, not the latter. 

I could talk about this for 80 years but I’m going to cut myself out here. Bottom line is: the way DC did Kori in the New 52 was a huge shame and I really hope that they bring back the 80s Kori that we all know and love in Rebirth.

                                      _{the second barbara’s hands TOUCHED kori’s cheek, a huge smile spread ACROSS the alien’s FACE at the gesture of deep devotion. kori’s hands slid on top of the OTHER woman’s, head turning to the side for a moment to PRESS a kiss to her knuckles, ❛ hello there !!! ❜}

                                      _{the tamaranean girl CLOSED her eyes as she felt dick’s fingers in her HAIR. it was such a small GESTURE, touching her hair, but x’hal knew that every gesture of dick’s, no MATTER how large or small, had its effect on her.} 

                                      _{she wanted NOTHING more than to slide her hands over his own, to BRING his knuckles to her LIPS, to bring her lips to his own set. she longed for the days WHERE his fingertips would skim over HER skin, not just her hair, longed for THOSE days to return. there was so much that she WANTED and there was just as MUCH that she knew she couldn’t have.} 

                                      _{her and dick … they had ENDED over and over again, left her hurt one too MANY times. and even THOUGH she felt that same pull, that same entrancing TUG towards him anytime they got WITHIN 20 feet of each other, she knew that she COULDN’T give into that temptation, couldn’t do that to THEM again.} 

                                      _{however, she could just ENJOY this moment, be it a possible fluke or an accident. he was still TOUCHING her, his hands were still in her hair, and, for just a second, things felt right.} 

                                      _{but every moment has to END and this one was no exception. her eyes OPENED and everything REMAINED the same, ❛ we should … ❜ it took her a SECOND to find her voice, ❛ we should get back to work. ❜}
